Overview

What would nature become if shaped by machines? How does life persist within systems of control? Passage is an evolving speculative project that explores the entanglement between ecology and synthetic infrastructure. Spanning live cinema performance, sculptural installation, and fragrance, it invites audiences into a world where organic life and machine systems grow inseparably.

Passage explores how nature is transformed into infrastructure: engineered, aestheticized, and embedded into urban and digital systems. Inspired by the artist’s upbringing in hyper-urban environments, where greenery is curated to offset industrial sprawl, Passage interrogates how landscapes are shaped by control, and where the agency of nature endures in an increasingly entangled world.

At the heart of Passage is a living digital world: a simulated ecosystem imagined in a game engine.

Metallic roots and vines entwine with organic flora and fauna, channeling energy to an artificial sun and forming a feedback loop of life. Sustained equally by forest and machine, the cybernetic landscape shifts in response to systemic conditions, cycling through phases of growth, collapse, and renewal.

Performance - Passage_Chroniko

The world of Passage comes to life in its audiovisual live cinema performances.

Using a sculptural camera controller, the artist and performer navigates a virtual forest in real time, shaping a film that unfolds before the audience.

The camera becomes an embodied witness, its gestures improvised. A musician scores the experience live, responding to shifts in light, rhythm, and terrain. Collaborators include Torus, Bobby Beethoven, Fitnesss, Hyph11e.

Installation - Passage_StillGrowth

Passage: Still Growth is a sculptural installation that gives material form to the digital world. Originally commissioned by the New Museum’s DEMO 2025 exhibition, the piece centers on a living ficus tree, commonplace in corporate lobbies, pruned into ornamental stillness.

Attached to its trunk is an industrial prosthetic, a sculptural limb mimicking the growth it’s been denied. Nearby, a virtual camera drifts through a cybernetic forest: a speculative ecosystem where metal infrastructure regulates growth and decay. The camera floats freely, in contrast to the restrained tree.

Installation - Passage_SoftRains

The installation version of Passage takes form as a cavernous multimedia space featuring screen based visuals, immersive 4D sound, and sculptural elements. The presence of the audience (detected by a fabricated Kinect camera sculpture) disrupt and orient an automated roaming camera, which fosters emergent behaviors from the AI governed creatures in the scene. Passage_SoftRains was presented at Onassis ONX in New York and the Museo de Artes Visuales in Bogota, Colombia.
